"Reflections", the lost EVICK album

For 10 years, Pete Evick and his band have been on a grueling schedule of touring, touring, and more touring. As is common in the music industry, a life on the road sometimes restricts a band's ability to sit down and finish a full length album. EVICK's second release "Sunset to Sunset" was simply a five song EP that was supposed to satiate their loyal fan base until the touring stopped and they could produce a full-lengh album. Well, as luck would have it, the touring didn't stop as their success grew into ten fold when they became Bret Michaels' solo band. There couldn't have been better timing for a bunch of road dogs who were at home being on tour. It was at that crucial moment that Michaels went from being Poison's front man, to the ROCK OF LOVE, CELEBRITY APPRENTICE star and all around lovable Bad Boy that he's known for being today, taking EVICK on a non-stop roller coaster of reality TV, rock 'n roll, and more relentless touring for the next five years.

EVICK's loyal fan base have had to subsist only upon demo and leaked versions of what was rumored to be long-promised third release from the band. The constant touring, however, wasn't the only thing that caused delays. The sudden loss of all of the raw tracks due to a massive technological failure brought the already delayed project to a halt. Guitar play Brad Puckett's subsequent decision to leave the band also fundamentally altered the EVICK sound. Each attempt to capture the magic of the previously-completed work seemed to fall short of the raw emotion and energy that had already been captured. Finally, Pete, Chuck Fanslau, "Dirty" Ray Sheuring, and Rob Jozwiak reconvened to once and for all resurrect these tracks from the grave. As expected, the songs still feel very special to the band. Tracks like "Reflection" capture a very raw emotional battle about Pete losing himself to the constant battle of the music business and still finding his way back to the innocence of playing music for the love of music. A song like "Prom Queen" is a real stretch away from Pete's normal songwriting, lyrically going the opposite direction of the heartfelt storyteller to introducing an element of humor and wit seen in longtime favorite influences such Bowling for Soup.

With all of these things weighing heavily on his heart, the award-winning producer in Pete Evick couldn't stand the idea of just releasing the 5 demos as-is... but eventually the music fan in him won the battle. The band has decided to release the long-lost five tracks that are only heard at the nw-rare live EVICK shows. Much like some of the songs on historic albums like ALANIS MORISSETTE's "Jagged Little Pill", sonic fidelity is sacrificed for the raw magic sometimes only captured during the demo recording stage. It was this way of thinking that led EVICK to go move forward with the release of this record, entitled "Reflections".

Now the long five-year wait is over! EVICK's third release "Reflections" will finally be available on POTOMAC RECORDS on February 22, 2011.

More important and exciting is that Pete Evick, through his record label and with his band has committed to making an impact in the world of charitable donations by using first week sales on his own and every other Potomac Records released to donate to charities that are close to his heart and local community. Teamed with TV personality and super model Leeann Tweeden, as well as life long friends Sara Rodriquez, Ed York, and Shawn Key, Evick's 3rd Release "Reflections" will be supporting, promoting and donating to 4 incredible charities. GLAM Guitars Press Release - Ronnie James Dio Cancer Foundation

PRESS RELEASE – Glam Guitars November 12, 2010

Rock and roll has always had an edge, from glam metals big hair and studs, to funk bands psychedelic images and paisley clothing- every sub-genre of rock and roll has an associated image. While it’s typical to lean towards hard edged garnishes, Glam Guitars is paving the way for a new accessory, electrifying Swarovski crystals. Needles to say, there are but few bands with a flare for pleasing crowds that can resist a crystal-studded instrument to enhance already stimulating performances.

Colorado-based Glam Guitars, an organization that aims to marry rock and roll energy with nonprofit causes, knows how to give hard-driving rock bands a jolt of flamboyant glitter. Upon request from a band, Glam Guitars designs a special instrument that will tour with the group and promote a nonprofit of the band’s choosing. Guitars are designed by Megan Dalbey and her crew of students at the Art Institute of Colorado. Their detailed and vibrant designs are executed in multicolored Swarovski crystals. The end product is a “glam guitar”—suitable for performance and auction.

While the lure of a seductively radiant guitar is enough inducement for some groups, the majority of Glam Guitar participants have signed on because they want to benefit humanity. Once the guitar has toured, gathered a fan base of its own, it is auctioned off to the highest bidder, with net proceeds going to a nonprofit of the band’s choosing.

Some pretty big names have gotten in on the gig including Bret Michaels, Motorhead, Disturbed, and War to name a few. Wendy Dio, wife of the late iconic metal sensation Ronnie James Dio, who passed away of stomach cancer in May 2010, needed no convincing before she signed up to auction a Glam Guitar with proceeds going to the Stand Up and Shout for Cancer fund, which was launched in honor of Dio’s untimely death. A donated instrument was festooned with the iconic devil horns hand symbol popularized by her husband. The extravagant guitar will be auctioned at Christies.

Before he was diagnosed with cancer in November 2009, Dio, who front lined a group that bore his name and who led a number of creative personal music projects, was looking forward to decades of continued songwriting and performing. After his death, grieving fans paid tribute to their idol by donating to the Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund. The charity organization provides much-needed funding for research and to raise awareness to help find a cure for stomach cancer, which ultimately took Ronnie’s life. By uniting rock and roll reach with the nonprofit world’s problem-solving expertise, Glam Guitars hopes to have lasting impact. It partners with Dean Schachtel of Niji Entertainment Group, Inc. to help participating bands promote their dolled-up axes, their pet projects and their concert tours.

Participating bands have helped a number of worthy causes that combat everything from rare diseases to environmental destruction. Pancho Tomaselli, Bassist for the 70’s psychedelic funk band War, and also his newly launched experimental power trio PHILM (alongside Slayer’s Dave Lombardo and Gerry Nestler of Civil Definace), will auction a guitar and bass in November to benefit Condor del Sol, and other charities. PHILM is touring with Judas Priest Front Man Rob Halford this fall with a show at the Ogden Theatre December 15 where you can see a Glam Guitar in action. With its light-catching and multifaceted ornamentation, Pancho’s Swarovski-bedecked Shenker bass has a story to tell. The crystals spell out Condor del Sol on the head, a reference to the Ecuadorian nonprofit organization that helps bring solar energy to poorest cities in the Andean nation—including Imantag, Pancho’s hometown. Like “The Cisco Kid” and other favorites, the bass has been traveling with War for the past few months, firing up admiration from the band’s loyal fans.

When Pancho’s bass and Gerry Nestler’s guitar goes to the highest bidder, Glam Guitars hopes that music lovers everywhere will take note: One fully accessorized guitar can do a world of good. First News Post

First post on the new blog style news section. We've been working on quite a few really cool things.

Over the last few weeks we've:

-Finished the Ronnie James Dio guitar, and Bill took it to Los Angeles to hand off to the lovely Wendy Dio and Dean Schachtel. Net proceeds will be donated to the "Stand Up and Shout!" cancer fund.

-While in LA, Bill picked up a couple more guitars, one for the new up-and-coming band PHILM (go check them out!), and one for ESP Guitar's President & CEO, Matt Masciandaro.

-We're waiting excitedly for the Disturbed guitar to get here, it's in the mail and should be here any day now.

-The website has been undergoing quite a few changes, as it slowly evolves into something worthy of a company that makes such amazing custom works of art for musicians. Unfortunately, I don't have as much time as I'd like to spend on all of these things, but it's getting there.

Speaking of PHILM, if you happen to be in Denver in December, they're opening for Judas Priest! More info on that later.
